The girls that made Paul Simon cry. One voice by two sister’s Johanna and Klara Söderberg that can’t help but touch and move. I accidently heard these girls at Bestival a few days ago and I am so glad I did. Their recent second album, The Lion’s Roar, was No. 1 in Sweeden and I don’t think it’ll be long until these two young, wild Sweed’s take the rest of the world by storm. They can probably teach us brits how to perfect the boho look too!
I was quick to label them a duo Laura Marling but these girls have so much more to give. With a bit more of an alt-country bite and hauntingly real and mature lyrics, these girls have a confidence that’s entwined with the delicacy of Florance Welche’s hands! They are hypnotising to watch. With barely any make up, their hair long and loose they command the stage. Whether their own song or a cover, their honest harmonies, which only when you’re fully immersed in their sound remind you that they are two singers, mix Swedish blood and American influences into the perfect blend of modern-country music. Have a listen, I think everyone’s going to be wearing lumberjack shirts or poncho’s soon in tribute of this magical new talent!
I will be making sure to book a ticket to their next gig! *****
